I read about different ways. In everyone's opinion, what works best???

I take off the shooting head and then let the running line dangle in the current for a bit.  Try giving your shooting head a good stretch before you fish.  Coils from the memory in the line cause it to corkscrew in the water during the swing.  I also believe that if the core is not centered in the fly line it will twist.  I have numerous lines of the same brand and grain weight, same age, one twists and the other doesn't.

Pain in the ass when they do.
